Across cultures and history, sound and collective vocalization have been used to modulate emotional and physiological states — ranging from Vedic chanting and communal folk music to coordinated singing and lamentation practices. These traditions implicitly exploit sound's capacity to shape autonomic tone, breathing, and interpersonal synchrony.
Sound is also the primary sensory channel of 2-way interaction between you and your baby. We are combining wearable biosensing, spatial audio, and a custom app to explore how music shapes the fetal-maternal bond and stress indicators across time.

01 — WEARABLE
A clinically-validated, non-invasive patch worn on the abdomen that continuously records both maternal and fetal cardiac signals.
02 — AUDIO
You will choose from a menu of music and calming sounds to be streamed through Sonos.
03 — PLATFORM
Our app coordinates the study sessions, logs biometric data, and guides you through each listening activity.
